Richland’s Winter Wonderland is back and more magical than ever! Starting on Friday, December 6, 2024, John Dam Plaza will transform into a festive wonderland with a dazzling light show, live entertainment, and visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The opening weekend festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. on the first Saturday in December, with a lighted vehicle parade, followed by a countdown to light up the park at 6:30 p.m.
The plaza will also feature fun holiday characters, a charming Alphabet Home Village with miniature replicas of iconic floorplans, and a special mailbox for children to drop off letters to Santa. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a ride on the J&S Express Train, enjoy complimentary hot cocoa, and capture festive memories with friends and family at the selfie stations. Food vendors will be on-site offering a variety of treats, and the evening will culminate with a spectacular lighted boat parade on Clover Island, followed by fireworks.
The highlight of this event is the dancing light display, a synchronized show of dancing lights and beloved Christmas tunes. Running nightly from December 7 to 31 from 5 to 9 p.m., the light show has become a cherished holiday tradition. Families enjoy strolling the grounds as children of all ages can get down and dance to the lively holiday tunes as the lights twinkle in time. Christmas Lighted Boat Parade

Lighting up the Columbia River during the holiday season since 1964 is the Tri-Cities’ annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade. This festive event, proudly sponsored by the Clover Island Yacht Club, will take place on December 6 and 7, 2024, from 6 to 9 p.m. each night. The parade begins under the Cable Bridge at Clover Island and proceeds up the river on the Kennewick side, offering breathtaking views from various spots, including Clover Island, Columbia Park, Columbia Point Marina Park, and Howard Amon Park.
Spectators can marvel at a colorfully decorated fleet of boats, each adorned with dazzling holiday lights. As the vessels sail upstream to Howard Amon Park, the festive decorations glimmer on the water, creating a magical holiday spectacle. The boats turn around at the far end of the park, travel back downriver with a detour on the Pasco side between Chiawana Park and Road 78, and eventually return to Clover Island. Once back at Clover Island, the boats make an additional loop so everyone can enjoy this beautiful display before concluding the parade.
The event features more than just the parade itself. Spectators can relish a culinary journey with a four-course meal, including seafood, vegetarian, or vegan options, and a glass of champagne or sparkling cider. An onsite full-service bar offers additional beverage options, and free coffee, tea, and soda are available. Families will enjoy capturing Instagram-worthy moments of the festive displays and playing games of spot-it with loved ones. The hunt runs from December 9 to 12, and participants can scan QR codes to earn entries into a random prize drawing.
