The longer days have finally arrived, the temperatures rise more every day, and the world is abuzz with the tingles of life and laughter on the horizon. Spring has officially sprung in the Pacific Northwest, and many of us have been anxious with anticipation after waiting inside during the long winter months. Nature is welcoming us back to the outside world with open arms, and for local gardeners, that means a chance to get back out there and play in the dirt! And luckily, there are plenty of local plant shops in the Tri-Cities community to help them create the perfect landscape for the summer.

Wood’s Nursery and Garden Store

2615 Van Giesen St., Richland

Considered one of the top nurseries in the Southeastern Washington region is Wood’s Nursery and Garden Store. It all started back in 1965 when Zane and Betty Wood opened the hobby store and began serving the gardening community of the Tri-Cities. When Paul Wood took over in 1982, he expanded the nursery from a hobby to a full-fledged business. Now they’ve settled on five acres of land in Richland, carrying a wide variety of flowers, trees, and shrubs along with tools of the trade. They even have unique fountains to add as a magnificent centerpiece to anyone’s garden, along with a gift shop that offers all kinds of gardening gifts like garden stakes, solar lights, wall art, signs, and statues!

Beaver Bark Gift and Garden Center has grown into the Tri-Cities’ premiere choice for plants, landscaping, garden supplies, and more since it started over 20 years ago. Back then, it was a “diamond in the rough” patch of property in the Richland community as the Bobbett family worked hard to make it the nursery that it is today. Since then, it has grown exponentially, adding a glasshouse atrium, gift shop, cafe, and furniture section into the mix. They’ve even been voted the Tri-City Herald’s People’s Choice for Best Garden Center/Nursery every year from 2014 all the way to 2021. What a record!
